ABOUT STEVE
Steve Bertram, CPA, CFE, is a Senior Director with MCA Financial Group. Steve brings experience in dispute advisory, forensic accounting, solvency analysis, valuation, litigation support, financial modeling, and audit. He has supported companies, counsel, and other stakeholders in complex financial matters involving damages, lost profits, unfair competition, Chapter 11 plan feasibility, settlement compliance, and financial reporting.
Before joining MCA, Steve was a Manager with Alvarez & Marsal’s Disputes and Investigations practice in Phoenix. In this role, he performed solvency analyses for companies across the chemical, retail, and trucking industries, with enterprise values ranging from $1 million to $7 billion. He also assisted in the preparation of affirmative and rebuttal lost-profits reports, evaluated financial projections, analyzed assumptions underlying business plans, and supported counsel in preparation for depositions and cross-examinations of fact and expert witnesses.
His experience also includes litigation support for international manufacturers, including reviewing and analyzing large volumes of paper and electronic data related to settlement compliance and enforcement matters. In addition, he performed market analysis, calculated injury related to unfair competition, and assisted in drafting a declaration submitted to the United States International Trade Commission.
Steve began his career with PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he served as an Assurance Associate and provided audit services to clients in the supermarket and grocery, building automation, and venture capital industries. His audit work included testing inventory, debt, earnings per share, employee compensation, operating expenses, accounts payable, tax expense, and cash. He also developed Alteryx workflows that helped automate quarterly testing procedures and improve the efficiency of engagements.
A graduate of the University of Arizona’s Eller College of Management, Steve earned both a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting, summa cum laude, and a Master of Accounting. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Arizona and a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).
Outside of the office, Steve enjoys trying new restaurants with his wife, reading, golfing, and spending time with his three pets.
